ELIZABETHTOWN, KY, June 05, 2009—First Federal Savings Bank has announced that the annual Pops in the Park concert will take place on Friday, July 24th at Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown, KY. Gates open at 6:00 pm EST, with the concert beginning at 8:30 pm EST
The alternate rain date for the event, if needed, would be Sunday, July 26th at the Park.
The theme of this year’s event is “An Arabian Night” with the Louisville Orchestra performing a program under the direction of conductor Jason Weinberger that includes Middle Eastern-inspired music, including classic arrangements from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Schéhérazade, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Handel’s Solomon, Strauss’ Egyptian March, and Verdi’s Aida, as well as some contemporary arrangements from Lawrence of Arabia, Goldilocks, and Disney’s Aladdin.
The Orchestra’s performance will be followed at sundown by a spectacular fireworks display over the lake from Zambelli Fireworks Internationale with music produced by and broadcast live on WAKY radio 103.5 FM.
This marks the 20th year that First Federal has sponsored, hosted and organized the event designed to support the arts in Central Kentucky and raise money for local charities. A donation of $5,000 will be made to the United Way of Central Kentucky from ticket proceeds, the Elizabethtown Noon Rotary Club will raise money through table ticket sales, and the Elizabethtown Lions Club will be on hand to sell food to raise money for their organization.
General Admission tickets go on sale on Monday, June 8th at all First Federal Savings Bank locations. Adult tickets are $8.00, while tickets for children 12 and under are free. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Group tables of eight are available for families or businesses to purchase through the Elizabethtown Rotary Club, with options for dinner catering available. Tables can be purchased by contacting Kathy Williamson at (270) 982-1289.
